Laurel Lake McGuire, TWSA

I work in a style of illuminated realism; that is, the image you retain in your memory or informed by emotion. I enjoy using layering techniques and enough detail to give my work a solid feel. Color and the play of light are important to my vision.

The Green and Unmapped Path

Watercolor on paper 2014. Older books including a copy of Hiawatha and the Illuminator slide viewer were all passed on to me from my grandfather, the son of an itinerant Methodist preacher who started in upstate New York and ended in Kansas. The postcard, from my great uncle's collection, shows John Brown's historical site.
