Laurel Lake McGuire, TWSA

I work in a style of illuminated realism; that is, the image you retain in your memory or informed by emotion. I enjoy using layering techniques and enough detail to give my work a solid feel. Color and the play of light are important to my vision.

"Around the Unknown Curve"

I like to use postcards from my Great Uncle Paul's collection from the 1910s in some of my still lives. They often spark ideas for pairings and for the eventual title. He died young in the early 1900s so I feel like I'm letting a part of him live on.
