The artist works in a style of illuminated realism; that is, the image you retain in your memory or informed by emotion. She enjoys using layering techniques and enough detail to give her work a solid feel. Color and the play of light are important to her vision.
I wanted to capture the long leggy stems of these blooms and they seemed to evoke the freshness and immediacy of youth. I added in my precious copy of Anne of Green Gables, given to me by my Nova Scotian grandmother.
